I absolutely loved the warm and inviting atmosphere of the hotel. The decoration was charming and reminded me of my grandmother's house. The general areas were well-maintained and clean, and there were plenty of comfortable seating areas for senior people like me to relax and socialize. The hotel was also very accessible, with elevators available for those who have difficulty with stairs. It made me feel safe and comfortable during my stay.
I would have appreciated more assistance from the children working there. Maybe they could have offered more help with carrying luggage or provided a dedicated concierge service for senior guests.

Loved the tour at the chocolate factory, where I learned that chocolate comes from cacao. The complimentary pass to the pool was great, although the oceanfront location was just "okay". Saw some wildlife, but not as diverse as advertised.
Not enough diverse wildlife to satisfy my National Geographic fantasies.

Stunning Ocean Views: From the floor-to-ceiling windows and private balcony, I was treated to breathtaking views of the Otago coastline and St Clair Beach. It felt like being in a front-row seat to the mesmerizing surf scene and the dazzling beauty of nature.

This place blew my mind! The family who runs it made us feel so welcome and went above and beyond to help with any security issues. The newly renovated rooms were bright and cozy, and upgrading to a balcony was totally worth it. The location was perfect for a nice walk along the river to the town and the grotto. The half-board option was a steal with reasonably priced drinks and wine. Can't wait to come back for skiing or if we work on a cycling event in the area. Absolutely recommend this place, it's a hidden gem!
